On October 30th (2:30-4:30 PM CET / 3:30-5:30 PM EST), an important international event will take place online: the Webinar “The Future of Democracy: Youth Engagement in a Digital World,” organized by the EGOV4YOUTH project.

In recent years, youth involvement in decision-making processes has become a central topic in international political agendas. The pandemic has further accelerated the digitalization of public services, making it even more urgent to develop tools and skills that facilitate young people’s access to participation opportunities.

This event highlights a crucial issue for the future of our communities: youth civic engagement, especially for those from disadvantaged backgrounds, and the role of digital technologies in building a more inclusive and participatory democracy.

At the heart of the webinar will be e-governance, which refers to the use of digital technologies to enhance interaction between citizens and institutions. E-governance is essential for making decision-making processes more inclusive and facilitating the active participation of young people, particularly those in vulnerable situations or those outside education and employment (NEET).

The EGOV4YOUTH project develops e-GOV skills and tools for young NEETs, promoting collaboration between young people and public administrations in decision-making processes, and fostering long-term partnerships with various actors from civil society and the private sector. The main goal is to facilitate young people’s participation in public life and build lasting alliances between different civil society actors, research organizations, and the private sector.

During the webinar, the research results of the project will be presented, with a particular focus on the essential contribution of young people in shaping the future of democracy. The digital engagement of youth will also be highlighted as a key element for more transparent, ethical, and inclusive governance.

This event offers a unique opportunity for researchers, public institutions, youth organizations, and anyone committed to promoting the active involvement of young people in decision-making processes and the future of digital democracy.
